They really didn’t say what needed to be said. A decade later, these youngsters are lost more than ever. The segment didn’t get much accomplished other than showing buffoonish Negroes talk slick on a prime-time news channel.

I get it. Let’s blame movies, news, music and all the rest of it. I support that. But if when it comes to urban youth, why don’t we start taking care of our own a bit more.

Chief Keef (not trying to single him out because there are way too many others who do the same thing) might not have a responsibility to mentor kids in Evanston Ill., but on Chicago’s South Side, where he knows violence, lack of parental support and poverty exist, his message has an impact. He as well as other hip-hoppers have a responsibility to send a positive message to youth.

kids aren’t more lost then ever. I hate when old niggas say this.

more black kids going to college than ever. less crime overall. less murder. less deaths. much less drug use – it was you niggas generations that made crack a thing – not us. we’re doing much better than any generation that came before us actually. kids aren’t fucking lost.

chief keef should be mentoring kids? CHIEF KEEF IS 17!!!!! WTF ARE YOU EVEN SAYING? He’s a 17 year old dropout with a 30 year old mother from Chicago. he should not be mentoring ANYBODY.

And what you probably didn’t know about chief keef is that he spent the whole election on social networks like twitter trying to get people to vote for Obama WHEN he ISN’T EVEN OLD ENOUGH TO VOTE.

Artists have no responsibility to mentor kids. THAT IS NOT THEIR JOB. BY DEFINITION they live a life that is NOT TO BE EMULATED. I don’t see anyone turning to porn stars for advice for life – why do they want it from rappers and singers? I don’t get it.

Well I take that back. my generation gets it. we don’t emulate these niggas. we get turnt up listening to the shit at night and then the next day we get closer to our degrees with bowties on and big frame glasses. it might be something you niggas did back in your day but we know better.

I ain’t that old, youngster. I came up when the rocks hit the corner hard. I saw beauty and then the destruction. I know about that life. You can get a degree, sign an NFL, NBA or recording contract and get yours. Sure, get yours and take care of your fam. Understood.

But if you don’t reach back, help mentor the kids who are lost, whether 17, 25 or 53, you ain’t doing much in my book. My uncle was a real life pimp and did plenty of wrong, we all have our missteps, but he told me about his wrong and schooled me on how to live life right. It’s just like the Spider-Man flick homie, “with great power comes great responsibility.”

Your right in some ways, crime stats do show a reduction in crime but not in urban areas where the population is predominately made of of people of color. And don’t get me started on gentrification or how private prisons lock make billions off locking up black and brown men. More folks are incarcerated in the U.S. than any place on the planet—many of those individuals were arrested unfairly.

I’m all for free speech. I listen to coke rap, battle rap, real rap and plenty genres of music. But when you have a platform on national TV, you gotta talk about something of substance. Dam and Cam (who started the dumb “no snitching on a serial rapist” craze) could have done better, that is all I’m saying.

Don’t blame cheif keef for cheif keef, blame the conditions that created cheif keef. Take a deep look into his lyrics, all that gun talk and blah blah and take a second to realize he is rapping about that not necessarily because it’s cool. but that is the reality of his life and art is a reflection of that, these are the things he has seen growing. He should tell his story now the reality is he is 17 he doesn’t yet realize their is more than that and he shouldn’t glorify it but he should def speak on it.

The whole country is aware of the self imposed genocide that is going on in the south side of Chicago. Rev. Al only cares when its whites killing blacks because that is more money and better ratings. Black on Black crime is just another day. That is the home state of our BLACK president we as a whole have dropped the ball. Im not calling you out but ask yourself what are you doing are what do you plan to do for our youth other than sparse comments on blog sites?

Child please. I do plenty, that is why i can speak on it. I’m at the group homes and in the streets everyday with these young men very day and what do I hear them say?……”that’s the sh#% I don’t like”, or “I’m getting Guap” or “Gucci!”

They speak about things they know nothing about because they let market forces control their peception and thoughts. And we as adults have to explain that that is art and entertainment, but this is real life.

Their pants hang off their ass, they starting to rock Keef dreads, they tweet live pics of guns, weed and corner affiliation. They lay claim to territory they don’t own and limit their ability to explore life to only a three to four block radius. Shall I continue?

All I’m saying is that we have to do better. It ain’t just about making it. This shit has to get to a point to where start to reach back beyond a free turkey giveaway and evolve into a ” life camp” where we can get these celebs to kick real shit to these youngsters they profit from.

And don’t give me the sure urban kids by the most hip hop mess. I know they do, but the streets influence that shit.

There you go again with that …Everyone with a different opinion from you is a “old head, old Niggas”. News flash nigga. SMFH.

Anonymous 03/13/2013 at 3:12 PM

it’s not opinion.

it’s numbers. it’s facts nigga. black kids aren’t LOST anymore. We’re not a lost generation. In fact there are only two groups saying that: racist fucks and our own old heads.

Now why is that?

Reply

QbanB 03/13/2013 at 5:16 PM

Yes it is your opinion. Cause it is based on your assumption, not facts. I guess i must have a old head mentality. Cause this generation is lost. I was born in 85. I remember sonic cartoons and GI joe extreme. So def not that old. Lol. And no not no old heads or racist. I know plenty of dudes and chicks that don’t fuck with shit going on now and find it ridiculous and stupid. When I was 16 17 I still would not follow or run with this bullshit going on now.

Anonymous 03/13/2013 at 6:02 PM

Thank you, sir. I’m was born in 80 and these young folks are so wack now. They can fight one-on-one, they twit beef, can’t handle someone telling them no. And guess what? It’s our fault. We haven’t raised them with the mentality of “the world is not going to work your way all of the time.” They follow, and don’t have the ability to critically think and stand on their own. I’m of the ability that we need a new revolution. We need to call it the “No To Ignorance Movement” and where we start calling bullshit on bullshit. (dumb reality tv shows (not all are bad), lying rappers, media that only reports crime or Sweet Brown shit, etc..) Since when did our old heads allow market forces to control them? If that was the case, we’d still be slaves in shackles, instead we are slaves with our wallets, how we consume news and “take care of mine” mindset.

Anonymous 03/13/2013 at 6:03 PM

I meant they can’t scrap one-on-one. That is why the run to a gun first. They have no squabble skills.

Anonymous 03/13/2013 at 6:39 PM

QBanB: what assumption is this?

QbanB 03/13/2013 at 8:03 PM

@ Anonymous. The assumption is your opinion you try to pass off as facts. You believe just cause someone has a different opinion than you about this generation they are racist or a old head. What kind of stupid shit is that? So if a 17 year old black or Hispanic kid tells you “My generation is lost” he is a old head or a racist? Then you want to say some bullshit about chief keef was encouraging people to vote? Same Cheif keef who surrounds himself with that same crew of dudes who murdered that other rapper in Chicago? Just violated his parole? But I guess since he told people to vote it erases all the stupid and bad things that he did? His civil service. Well John Wayne Gacy was very active and helpful in his community and guess what? He was a serial rapist and killer. So what you just said holds no weight. You know why he is a fuck up. Cause his mother is a fuck up, and his kids gonna grow up to be a fuck up cause him and his baby mother don’t know anything and has not been taught anything outside that sand box that he lived in. You think People like 50 and other record labels care about him. He is there income. If he dies they make more money. The most they would do is try to keep him out of jail. And there are plenty of people who live like him, listen to him and try to emulate him. Never growing up have i ever seen a bunch of stupid ass mother fuckers like now. Especially with the access to social networks. Look how easily people get in trouble. Look at French Montana now claiming that Lil Poopy is not part of his crew. That lil 9 year old kid talking about he is a coke boy, slapping chicks on their ass. yet he is at concerts with French. What if he was on that tour bus that French was on and had got shot up? You gone tell me these mother fuckers today are not stupid as fuck. FOH!!

pretty ignorance on many levels. dame played him self for taking cam on that show, then trying to justify the ignorance of hiphop.

So I guess I’m the only one that understands what Dame and Cam’ron were saying, huh? It’s not their responsibility to save the world…and they shouldn’t be held “morally responsible” if some kid takes their lyrics literally. That’s what parenting is supposed to address, not entertainers.

Agree 100% it’s really not as complex as everyone makes it seem. Take care of your kids it’s really the only job in your life that will matter

Pure entertainment, parents should be responsible, I wouldn’t even let my kids watch anything other than kids programs

O’Reilly is just one of the talking heads guarding the inhabitants of Bullsh*t Mountain from rejoining the world of the sane. Fox News is a propaganda machine which dumbs down America by the day through disinformation and their slanted agendas. See their anchors spewing forth feces from their mouths in my visual homage to the network on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-fox-news-scylla-guardian-of-bullsht.html
