Google has partnered with Sony and Intel to take over the world again bring the internet into your homes even more.  According to the NYT:

The move is an effort by Google and Intel to extend their dominance of computing to television, an arena where they have little sway. For Sony, which has struggled to retain a pricing and technological advantage in the competitive TV hardware market, the partnership is an effort to get a leg up on competitors.

The partners envision technology that will make it as easy for TV users to navigate Web applications, like the Twitter social network and the Picasa photo site, as it is to change the channel.

Some existing televisions and set-top boxes offer access to Web content, but the choice of sites is limited. Google intends to open its TV platform, which is based on its Android operating system for smartphones, to software developers.

Perfect timing.  Here’s what Tiger posted on his blog today:

The Masters is where I won my first major, and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I’m ready to start my season at Augusta.  The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it’s been awhile since I last played.  I have undergone almost two months of inpatient therapy, and I am continuing my treatment. Although I’m returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life.

When I finally got into a position to think about competitive golf again, it became apparent to me that the Masters would be the earliest I could play. I called both Joe Lewis and Arnold Palmer and expressed my regrets for not attending the Tavistock Cup and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. I again want to thank them both for their support and their understanding. Those are fantastic tournaments, and I look forward to competing in them again.  I would also like to thank the Augusta National members and staff for their support. I have deep appreciation for everything that they do to create a wonderful event for the benefit of the game.

How much you want to bet he wins and we forget all about the scandal and send him back into the stratosphere as the greatest golfer ever? He’s jumping right back in!!!

On the Today Show’s series “Secrets Of Filth” they uncovered stores like The Gap, Nordstroms, Bloomingdales and Macy’s have been selling worn lingerie!!!!! That’s just nasty…….

LeBron James respects his elders.  So much so that the he has formerly filed paperwork with the league to have his number changed to #6 – his Olympic jersey number and also the one he wears during practice, and is hoping the NBA officially retires his current number in respect for the games greatest player Michael Jordan.

Kanye West just seconds ago unveiled his hugely popular blog’s (www.kanyewest.com) new design – with a white background instead of the previous black.  The first post features his partner Amber Rose in a super killer pose.

Dear Kanye,  Can you make THIS white?  Congrats!

This morning basketball star Jayson Williams was sentenced to 5 years in jail for his role in the shooting of his limo driver back in 2002. Under the terms of the sentencing, he will not be eligible for parole until 18 months. Trouble seemed to keep finding Williams where back in January he was arrested in New York City for driving drunk on the FDR highway.

This thing was like the Super Bowl the way the networks covered it. Today after much anticipation golfer Tiger Woods spoke to the world about the incident with his wife on Thanksgiving night that shattered his world in a “highly controlled press event”. At the press conference Tiger admitted he is sorry and says that he and his wife Elin “have a lot to discuss” but will be working it out personally.  He also stressed that his wife never hit him and domestic violence has never been an issue in his house so she deserves “praise not blame” for his “repeated irresponsible behavior” because he had an affair and cheated.

To his fans Tiger says he owes them “a special apology” for letting down the parents and kids who looked up to him and in an attempt to solve his problem he’s been in therapy for the past 45 days.  Holding back sniffles the golfer added that he hopes the media will leave his family alone because he doesn’t appreciate people following his wife, going to his kids school or staking out his mom.

Tiger ended the press conference which was about 15 minutes long saying he may return to golf but is not sure when and asked everyone watching to “find room in their heart to one day believe in him” before hugging his mom.

So in the history of apologies…how did Tiger do???

She’s definitely getting the big push and doing all the right things, lets see how this goes.

Congratulations to Nicole and Joel who after 3 years together and two kids are now getting married.  Both the stars and their camps have stayed mum, but Nicole is expected to make the big announcement when she goes on David Letterman’s show this Friday.

This is how the internet goes – something works, copy it!  Unfortunately it seems that many of you are complaining about the new Twitter mimic that allows you to follow people as if you didn’t waste enough time on your other social networking sites.  Here’s a piece of the blog the company posted this weekend to dry your tears:

We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear, and since we launched Google Buzz four days ago, we’ve been working around the clock to address the concerns you’ve raised. Today, we wanted to let you know about a number of changes we’ll be making over the next few days based on all the feedback we’ve received.

First, auto-following. With Google Buzz, we wanted to make the getting started experience as quick and easy as possible, so that you wouldn’t have to manually peck out your social network from scratch. However, many people just wanted to check out Buzz and see if it would be useful to them, and were not happy that they were already set up to follow people. This created a great deal of concern and led people to think that Buzz had automatically displayed the people they were following to the world before they created a profile.

On Thursday, after hearing that people thought the checkbox for choosing not to display this information publicly was too hard to find, we made this option more prominent. But that was clearly not enough. So starting this week, instead of an auto-follow model in which Buzz automatically sets you up to follow the people you email and chat with most, we’re moving to an auto-suggest model. You won’t be set up to follow anyone until you have reviewed the suggestions and clicked “Follow selected people and start using Buzz.”

Will you be following people from your G-Mail account???  We won’t…yet.

The Isaac Foundation which raises money for children who are fighting a rare enzyme deficiency known as MPS VI, did a nice job on capitalizing off the publicity surrounding John Mayer’s comments to Playboy magazine to defend the star.  Here’s an excerpt of thier blog called “In Defense Of John Mayer“:

I thought I would take to our blog to write a quick defense of John Mayer, someone that I have grown to respect for the kind, caring, and compassionate person that he truly is.

I don’t care what Playboy Magazine writes about the man, and I don’t care what John says to the journalists that write what they do about him.  In America, it’s all part of the game – get in people magazine, light up the blogosphear, stay relevant – end of story.

I recognize that John plays the game better than most because he’s one of the most written about celebrities on the planet.  I know he has said things that turn people off.  I know he’s said things that make him sound like someone you would never want your children around – ever.  But I also know the person that he truly is and the good things he tries to accomplish with the celebrity status he’s achieved.

Although I’m clearly a biased individual, the wonderful things he has done for my son Isaac stand out as some of his best charitable work.  And I feel that he does it out of a true love for our son and the hope to help us find a cure for him.  The genuine time he gives him during his stops here in Canada, the warm reception he gives Isaac each time he sees him, and the special way he makes my son feel is something that I will always appreciate the man for.

And for Ellen and I, the feeling of hope he gives us and the feeling that we are making a real difference on the road to finding a cure for Isaac is all that matters.  Write what you want about John, think what you will, but before you hand down your verdict on what kind of person he really is, please consider the good he has done in his life.

I’m typing this away as I snuggle up with the boys.  They had a fun day at the hospital, came home and made John a Valentine to give him on Sunday.   They are looking forward to seeing John at his concert in Toronto.  A few minutes ago I asked Isaac to tell me three words he would use to describe John and he responded “Nice, Friendable, and Loveable”.  Print that bloggers, and give John his fair shake.

So…….is John out of the hot water yet? Was he ever in it???

Only days after calling his doctor at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital Bill Clinton was admitted into the hospital this afternoon for chest pains and ended up getting a stent procedure which is when mesh tube is used to help narrow or weak heart arteries. The former President is reportedly in recovery with two stints and issued this statement via his spokesperson Douglas Band:

“Today President Bill Clinton was admitted to the Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after feeling discomfort in his chest. Following a visit to his cardiologist, he underwent a procedure to place two stents in one of his coronary arteries. President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti’s relief and long-term recovery efforts. In 2004, President Clinton underwent a successful quadruple bypass operation to free four blocked arteries.”

Get well soon Bill. We still need ya!

Sad. The 40-year old designer was found dead today at his home in London and his company has released this statement:

“On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family. Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”

The internets are already speculating it was a suicide but we’ll just say R.I.P. to a great designer.
