Bigotry is what it is. Bigots and homophobes use the bible in order to justify the judgment and discrimination of others. Who the hell are you to judge anyone!? When they die, they don’t have to talk to YOU or ANYONE ELSE to get into to heaven. THEY HAVE TO TALK TO GOD! Just as you use God as your excuse, God also teaches TOLERANCE of others. God gave his only son for our sins so that we may have CHOICES. Again, at the end of our days we will have to be personally accountable for our actions here on earth and must talk to GOD not YOU! You treat people equally with love and respect! You treat people how you want them to treat you. Besides that, how is it going to hurt YOU? It doesn’t. Are your taxes going to be raised? No. Are gay married people gonna stop by to invade your house? No. But what it will do is allow couples that have been together for several years to be able to make emergency medical decision if something happens to their partner, as my husband would for me. What about life insurance? What about health Insurance. Think outside of your bubble.
Gay people are not going to stop being gay, loving each other or building families. You think it’s gross and an abomination against god….well white people thought is was gross and an abomination against god for black people to marry white people. They also used the bible as their justification to discriminate. And don’t say that being gay is a CHOICE. It’s NOT! Real gay people are born that way, just like you were born black. Live and let live. It’s none of your business. Bigotry is hateful.
Do you walk a perfect life? What makes your sins any less than being gay?
Did you know the bible that you use as your justification to discriminate says this:
A. Marriage in the United States shall consist of a union between one man and one or more women.(Gen29:17-28; II Sam 3:2-5)
B. Marriage shall not impede a man’s right to take concubines, in addition to his wife or wives.(II Sam5:13; I Kings 11:3; II Chron 11:21)
C. A marriage shall be considered valid only if the wife is a virgin. If the wife is not a virgin, she shall be executed.(Deut 22:13-21)
D. Marriage of a believer and a non-believer shall be forbidden.(Gen24:3; Num 25:1-9; Ezra 9:12; Neh10:30)
E. Since marriage is for life, neither this Constitution nor the constitution of any State, nor any state or federal law, shall be construed to permit divorce.(Deut 22:19; Mark 10:9)
F. If a married man dies without children, his brother shall marry the widow. If he refuses to marry his brother’s widow or deliberately does not give her children, he shall pay a fine of one shoe.(Gen.38:6-10; Deut 25:5-10)
Seriously, learn some TOLERANCE. Don’t be a bigot…….also, shame on you for sending that mass email to everyone, not knowing which way they voted. You know what they say when you ASSume.

Gay is the new black? Ummm No. Gays arn’t being beat, and sprayed with water hoses out in the street. If they put as much time into organizing and reaching out to people as they did into dancing around in the streets in their gay pride paades, Prop 8 might not have passed.
And what about gay black folks (and other minorities within the gay community) who are discriminated against by both straight and gay people. No one ever mentions that.

Weather you support it or not rest assured that gay marriage will eventually happen. I’m just sort of offended by the comparison to the black civil rights movement. Prohibiting gay marriage is definitely a civil rights violation. But it comes no where close to the struggle that black people have had to and still endure. Not every gay person is visibly gay. But every black person is visibly black. And we were discriminated against just by us showing our faces. I sympathize with anyone who has suffered any form of discrimination. But the gay rights movement is a walk in the park compared to the black civil rights movement.

Not having the right to get married isn’t even comparable to some of the shit that goes on now and it is disrespectful to compare it to what happened during the civil rights movement and before. Black people were assaulted, raped, killed, hanged, and tortured for nothing without any repercussions and you Gays are comparing what ya’ll are going through to the fight our ancestors went through. “Gay is the new black” definitely is insuating that its much more than just “the new struggle”. I support equality too. But comparing the gay struggle to the black struggle is insulting for many reasons.
You need to read the comments thoroughly before sounding off and making accusations.
You need to also encourage any gay people that you may know to continue to fight for their rights but not to do so on the backs of blacks who have gone through and sacraficed a hell of a lot more than they have.

I don’t think that we can compare any struggles we are going through in America in 2008 to those that black americans have had to experience in our history. It’s as bad as trying to compare slavery to the holocast. One is not worse or better than the other. The struggles are not less relevant because they are not as dark or violent than anothers.
Discrimination is discrimination, any way you call it. It still blows my mind that people can justify this in America in 2008. You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to agree with it, but you have to recognize it as blantant discrimination. I would like some help in understanding how people say we need to protect marriage when our divorce rate is over 60%. So a man and a woman can get married but we don’t care if they stay married.

I think that the phrase “gay is the new black” is just ignorant! Their struggles will never compare to our culture and the mishaps that we continue to face on an everyday basis! But, I think that gays should have some form of rights that can be equivalent to marriage like a union. The union should consist of the same things that men and women get in a marriage, but to me it isn’t the same because they aren’t heterosexuals. I would never discriminate against gays but I think that marriage is something sacred that a man and a women share… their union should be called something else because I think that many people who are married get offended of the thought of gay people being married in the same was as them.
