Snoop Dogg Doesn’t Write His Own SH*T?

According to Snoop Dogg’s new XXL magazine interview, the rapper admits publicly that he didn’t write one single solitary line on his new album EGO TRIPPIN’. Here is Snoops quote from the article:
Back to the album. Initially, there weren’t supposed to be any guest artists on Ego Trippin’. Why the switch?
It just happened. That might be me ego-tripping. The real ego-tripping on this record is that I let people write songs for me.Singing songs? Rapping songs?
Everything.Have you run out of things to say yourself?
Nah. I’m ego-tripping. I was watching Diana Ross getting inducted into a Hall of Fame, and she got up there and named all these great songwriters. Her biggest songs were written by somebody else. So I’m thinking, Wow, there’s nothing wrong with my pen, but I’m going to let other people write for me.
What are your thoughts on Snoop Dogg not writing his own lyrics anymore? Is he still the Dogg Father?

that is why the game is wack..cats do not know what it means to be a MC….Snoop is dope , but he did grow up knowing what hip hop is..He is just like that wack ass lil wayne!..just trying to be an opportunist!…White kids respect there music, yet we do not respect it..Hell we do not respect ourself or our people!..Now you know why Nas album Nigger has to come out!..Wake up LA Reid and release the album! Hip Hop needs it!

The Dogg can write his own stuff, half the time he does it off the dome, but this trip he felt the need for other writes to write for him. Hell, some of the best songs ever written was written by someone else. Ask Holland Dozier Holland of Motown, ask Ashford and Simpson of Motown. He’s just putting some songwriters to work that’s all and that’s what I call lookin’ out.

this is wat i say about hiphop these days….there is nothing wrong with someone else writing ur stuff….u are the artist and ur fans want to see u put out good music…so go ahead if thats what makes them happy…rappers be trully ego trippin…yappin this and that if another person writes for them….fuk …if someone else wrote for most these famous rappers, they will be puttin out more classics for our ears….big up to snoop…he’s a legend anyway….so he can say what the fukk he wants or do what he wants….u can drink piss and die if u dont like….its hiphop….hipho is a form of art

this is not a problem… He has probably been developing some artist over the years who aren’t quite ready to release their own album… but they still need to get paid… Maybe this is his way of keeping his employees(artist) happy… That money split is 50/50 (Writer/Performer).

alot of MC’s have had their songs written or gotten help, this is a choice he made, not something he had to do so it’s cool.
